So I had this idea to document my curriculum at one of my jobs by blogging. I can post pictures of the activities when I set them up and use them to keep track of which materials I use this week, as well as how the children use them. I've never been very good at keeping all my curriculum development documentation in one place. I journal regularly, and often do my planning in my personal journal. This doesn't work so well when a fresh journal coincides with the middle of a school year...
This quarter, I plan to do a color study of sorts. Valentines day will be snuck in there with a yummy snack/art activity (something I haven't done with this program yet), and there are always emergent opportunities that can throw things off a bit. I'm trying to incorporate it with a winter/weatherish theme a bit. I really want the focus to be on the children repeatedly having opportunities to explore and use basic art materials, rather than them creating cute winter weather cookie cutter projects.
So here we go. My goal is to post once a week about the art and other activities I prepare for my two weekly classes at Port Townsend Cooperative Playschool.
