Firefly

One of the schools I teach at is Firefly Academy Preschool. Recently Erica, the owner, asked me to design her a business card for a networking meeting happening in here in Port Townsend. This is what I whipped up:

I also made a header version for the Firefly website and will continue to work on graphic and web projects for the program once I'm done with my summer adventuring...

DEW

This wonderful dewdrop image came from Lois Mason Photography, traded during her remodel by dbBrad. I used the dewdrop and the language of dbBrad's existing logo and card to create a logo and card for dbBrad's Division of Earth and Water.

Inhabitat's People Towels Design Competition

Today I came across a design contest put on by Inhabitat and People Towels. People Towels are a brand of cloth hand towels intended to replace paper towels and reduce waste. First place winner gets $500 and 10% of sales after the first 500 sales. Second place winner gets $500. Third gets $250. Today was the last day to enter the contest, so I threw together something real quick (ok, I spent hours on it, and learned a lot in the process.)

Anyway, here it is:

Wish me luck! Finalists will be announced March 14th.

Dear Mr. Greenguy

Dear Mr. Greenguy is a project I am doing with Brad of dbBrad. I created the logo, built and manage the site, while he researches and writes the articles. We both do marketing. The goal is to create a complex knowledge base of informative articles about sustainable buildings and to have a set of fun and informative Q & As in the style of Dear Abby

Dear Mr. Greenguy is my first wordpress site. I chose wordpress because I tweak code better than I speak it. We needed a site that Brad and I could both access. Something where he could make regular entries, where readers could submit questions, and where I could manage static pages. Wordpress is great because there are a ton of plugins available that allow us to create a far more dynamic site than if I was fumbling my way along. I'm learning a lot as we go.

Mr. GG, as we call the site, is still a baby. Check it out. Follow us. Ask us a question. Help us grow.

Anytime Handyman Services (Jeff the Carver)

Sweetiebuilt-2010
I made this logo for www.jeffthecarver.com. When I first made the site, it was just for Jeff's carvings. It has since evolved into the site for his business, Anytime Handyman Services.  The site is hosted for free by Google sites. This is a great option if you want a simple site for only the cost of domain registration and design/management services.

The Original dbBrad Logo

One of the websites I help maintain is that of dbBrad, a small design/build business located in Langley, on Whidbey Island, Washington.
Here is the original dbBrad Logo:

This was the first logo I created. I love it for its simplicity, but I think I've learned quite a bit in my dabbling the last two years

The Crayon Earth

Crayon Melt Crayons

Crayon melt crayons are one of my favorite toddler gifts. I made this batch for a friend's daughter's first birthday. They are rather simple to make, just break the crayons into pieces and melt them in paper cups at a low temperature until melted. They are easy for young children to hold and make great leaf rubbings.

This Blog is Sweetiebuilt

I am Sweetie (ok, technically I am Erin, and some would say I'm not so sweet). This is the place for me to showcase things I've built. You might think I use the world "built" rather loosely, and I am o.k. with that. It reminds me of how my brother Abel and I used to say "Whatcha building?" whenever we encountered one another in the kitchen or at the sewing machine or engaged in any constructive project. Some people might say you are only building something if it is a building or a road or a machine, but I believe we can build meals, clothes, ideas, art...the list could go on and on. In fact, this blog is Sweetiebuilt!

Alright, this blog isn't really Sweetiebuilt. This blog is blogger built and I'm simply typing in a template that I modified so I felt like I built it. It's a bit like repainting a motorhome or dying a cool, old sweater. Nit picky I may be, but really I can only take credit for the logo, the colors, and the content of this blog.
